Aeromexico Co-Pilot in Drug Trouble

Spanish authorities have recently detained an airline pilot who was suspected of smuggling more than ninety pounds of cocaine into the European country.

A co-pilot for Aeromexico, Ruben Garcia Garcia was recently arrested at the Madrid-Barajas International Airport, according to an embassy press release.

The embassy stated that the authorities found approximately ninety-three pounds of cocaine as they arrested Garcia Garcia. Spanish authorities confirmed the arrest but chose not to comment.

Aeromexico, one of Mexico’s largest airlines stated that Garcia Garcia was suspended, but that the airline has not yet been contacted by the authorities.

Aeromexico issued a statement saying that custom agents detained Garcia Garcia during a routine luggage check.

This is not the first time that Aeromexico Employees have been in trouble with drug charges. Just last December three Aeromexico flight attendants were arrested at the Barajas airport after more than three hundred pounds of cocaine was found in their luggage.

“Aeromexico regrets this incident,” one of the statements said. The airline is reportedly “ready to help authorities.”
